Low miles is not the whole story
A car that covered 20,000 miles in eight years of short cold-start trips can be in worse mechanical health than one that did 60,000 on the motorway. Read the inspection report alongside the odometer, not instead of it.
What to check on a low-mileage older car
Rubber and fluids age on the calendar, not on the odometer. Tyres, belts, brake fluid and coolant are inspected on date as well as mileage, and anything out of date is replaced before the car is listed.
The depreciation you are avoiding
Most cars shed 20–30% in year one and level off afterwards. Buying at the low-mileage used end means someone else has already paid that, and you still get the majority of the car's usable life.
